Share of voice and the competitor table

What share of voice is
Of the answers that named anyone you track (you or a competitor), the share that named you.
share of voice = answers naming you ÷ answers naming you or any tracked competitor
- It's relative: it tells you who is winning the answers. The Visibility Score tells you how you're doing on your own.
- With no competitors added, it's always 100% whenever you're mentioned. Add the brands buyers compare you with for it to mean anything.
Why the numbers can add up to more than 100%
One answer often names several brands (“try KiwiCo, Little Passports, or Raddish Kids”). That answer counts for each brand it names, so shares across a table can add up to more than 100%. That's expected.
Reading the competitor table
Under the engine cards, the table shows each brand's numbers per engine, for example 12 of 24 · 92%:
- 12 of 24: the engine named this brand in 12 of its 24 answers.
- 92%: that brand's share of voice on that engine.
- no data: no tracked brand was named at all on that engine, so there's nothing to share. That's different from 0%, which means competitors were named and you weren't.
- Not measured: the competitor was added after that run, so the run didn't look for it.
The table compares mention counts rather than scores: the same plain measure for every brand, with no weighting to account for.
